Super Team

I'm savoring these moments when they decide to work together!
They've been flying about the house, saving me from one disaster and then the next. Alligators, pirates...all sorts of dangers have started assaulting me. "Mom, a shark is biting your leg!" Then I am "saved" by being mightily pounced upon and dragged to supposed safety. Its really rather perilous living with superheros.

The end of Hilton Head....

A must for our vacations in Hilton Head, our kite night. Caden trying to fly like the kite.
Grandma and Grandpa.
Grandpa gives a tip.
Whoops, too many circles....it crashed!
All trying to straighten it out!
Lissa helps untangle the tail.
Its up!

Mom gets into the mood of kite flying...and we're quoting a few lines from Madagascar 2 - FYI.

Beach Day, Hilton Head

Do you see this? Proof that Shann was actually in the ocean, wet from head to toe? I'm not sure I've ever seen this! Uncle Dave and Caden are in the background. He did say that there were enough people farther out for shark bait that he felt safe enough.

"The Tree" in Harbortown

I'd love to know how old this tree is, its so amazing! The kids enjoyed several of its long graceful limbs. I wondered at first if we were hurting it, but the limb barely moved with the 75 pounds of children climbing around. my little tree hugger.
trying to be a leopard.

Not quite

This morning, Caden said to me (from the time out couch in the living room),

"At least this won't happen in heaven since there won't be a living room there."

Ouch

Caden said to Shann tonight, "Dad, I think you lost your temperature".

Can anyone guess what he meant to say?

Back to China

I know we've been home for 6 weeks, but I'd forgotten to post the rest of the pictures from Lynne and Scott's local superstore, Carrefour. I couldn't leave these out. Here, Lynne shows off the soy sauce aisle. Yes, an entire aisle. There were many, many kinds of fruit and vegetables that are not here - we tried a few different kinds...there were about 8 different varieties of mango. I'm picking some tiny mangos below.
Some sort of cucumber you buy a slice of.
These piggies are steamed buns. Cute. But completely tasteless.

Pig's foot, anyone?
Pick your own chicken out of the pile...

squid?
I don't know what to call these...
Cute costumed coffee demonstrator.
some sort of meat candy.

Shrimp potato chips?

Up discount?
The mountain of jello! Fill a bag with the flavors of your choice!
More like jello shots, really.
See these ladies? Each one is an employee in charge of the section they're in front of. For example, a Loreal girl, a Revlon girl, etc. I would think this would be daunting to walk down the aisle with them trying to convince you to buy from them. And pretty boring for the employees!
Ok, I'm really done with China - I just thought it was funny that in this superstore I found the culture so different than your run-of-the-mill Super Walmart.

So much to learn

Alyssa said to me in her grown-up voice, "Mom, not all parents have kids."

This amused the other lady in the canned vegetable section.
