History in Philadelphia

While in Philly with Lynne and Mindy and kids, we stopped to play ye olde yard games with some colonists.
Madelyn was quite good at this one...called hit the big hoop with a stick thingy.

And here's ye old throw the ring with 2 sticks...

And well...something similar to horseshoes.

And of course, The bell. You can see Sir Isaac's leg - he is strapped to the back of Mindy.
The kids did very well, hiking about the city in the heat!

Character?

We heard something on the radio this week about 'having character'.
Caden piped up "Daddy says I'm a character!" So we've been talking about the difference!

Scenes from a small garden

Here a few of the highlights from our yard this year. Some flowers are already done now that its August, but there are still a few bright spots.

thanks?

Here is a typical prayer by Alyssa Jane.

"Lord, thank you for this day and thanks for our food. Thank you for our blessings and our sins."

I'm not sure what to do about the sins part. Should I should let it go? I'm sure there is some deep spiritual principle she is hitting on...right?

She

has begun referring to herself in the third person as "the princess". I'm just sad I didn't think to do this first. Perhaps it wouldn't be socially acceptable at my age.

Afternoon at the beach

Lissy and Gwen do nails and make-up with a feather and a cupful of sand.

Madelyn leading the pack.
And it always comes to this.

this ain't no make-believe

Yesterday, Alyssa was playing in her room. She came into mine for a minute and said, "Jesus and I are playing in my room". A moment later she went back in, and I heard, "Hi Jesus, I'm back!"
And I thought. Of course He is. The King of the Universe is in her room with her. I had to just make sure she knew this was real. So I went in and told her that Jesus was in fact with her, and that he can hear when she talks to him, etc.
She sort of looked at me like I was stating the obvious.
Thats my girl.
