Day at the Beach

Monday, we went to the beach in NJ with our good friends, Jen, Antonio, and Gabriella. It was a gorgeous day...big waves, few people, warm breezes, and kids that play well by themselves! Caden was inspired to sing this original beach song, called Fire in the Waves. I think it might make it to the top ten.

This is why people in supermarkets have been suspiciously peering at me this week. She did a faceplant into a step at a playground a couple days ago.

History in Philadelphia

While in Philly with Lynne and Mindy and kids, we stopped to play ye olde yard games with some colonists.

Madelyn was quite good at this one...called hit the big hoop with a stick thingy.

And here's ye old throw the ring with 2 sticks...

And well...something similar to horseshoes.

And of course, The bell. You can see Sir Isaac's leg - he is strapped to the back of Mindy.

The kids did very well, hiking about the city in the heat!

Character?

We heard something on the radio this week about 'having character'.

Caden piped up "Daddy says I'm a character!" So we've been talking about the difference!

Here is a typical prayer by Alyssa Jane.

"Lord, thank you for this day and thanks for our food. Thank you for our blessings and our sins."

I'm not sure what to do about the sins part. Should I should let it go? I'm sure there is some deep spiritual principle she is hitting on...right?

She

has begun referring to herself in the third person as "the princess". I'm just sad I didn't think to do this first. Perhaps it wouldn't be socially acceptable at my age.
