Egg Hunt

Egg dying!

We had to watch Alyssa, she liked to slam the eggs down on the counter!

eyebrows

Last night, Caden told me I look like a boy. I assumed he said this because of my short haircut, but he went on to say that it is because of my eyebrows. "They're a boy color", he said. "They should be pink or purple."

Bear with me...

Here are a couple more I wanted to post from her 2 year pictures. I'm done now, I promise. :)

More than meets the eye...

Awhile ago, Caden was allowed to see several scenes from the movie Transformers. This made quite an impression on him, so he frequently likes to pretend to be Optimus Prime (see below how much they look alike). He'll say, "mom, I'm Optimus Prime, watch me transform," and he'll throw himself to the floor and crawl about.

For some reason, he's decided that my sweet Alyssa shall be "Bonecrusher" (see picture). Here she is, doing her best to transform.

Ahh the plight of little sisters.

Bathtub confessions

I walked into the bathroom this morning, while Caden and Alyssa were taking a bath. I heard him say to her, "Lissy, do you know that I love you?"

That made my day! :)

I can only imagine...

Caden and Alyssa and I heard "I Can Only Imagine" in the car this morning. This song muses about what we'll do when we get to heaven. So we talked about how we think we'll react when we see Jesus for the first time. Will we sing and dance? Be silent? Fall on our faces?
He also asked why we can't go now. "Why do we have to come here first?" I told him so we can get to know God better, and tell other people about Jesus.
After lunch, I heard Caden up in his room, shouting "God, I'm going to come to heaven, 'cause I love Jesus, and I'm going to fall on my face!"
I personally can't imagine doing anything other than that. We'll see, won't we?

Some more 2 yr pictures...

Trip

This weekend, we flew to St Louis for my cousin's wedding. We had such a great time with family, and I got to see my 99 year old grandma. Shann and I also enjoyed some time off from parenting. Good to have a break. Shann's parents stayed with the kids.
We arrived home last night after Caden and Alyssa were sleeping. This morning, Caden came over to my room, and crawled up in bed with me, and said, "You're the best mom in the whole wide world. I missed you! I'm so glad you're home! I want to smell the goodness of you!"
I said, "you what?" I can't imagine what the 'goodness' of me smelled like first thing in the morning! But nice to have such a homecoming. :)

3 generation pics

We had these pictures taken at JC Penney's when my mom was visiting. I really like this first one. Alyssa had just poked me right in the eye, so it sort of looks like I've been crying...
# 2 this is a cute one too, but probably not one you'd put on your wall...
#3 this is the one we picked. Alyssa looks awfully cute, I think. :)

I wish...

"Mom, I wish I was a Daddy, so I could be in charge." This, after I reminded Caden, as I do frequently, that he is not in charge.
I told him that he should enjoy being a kid, that being a Daddy isn't always fun. Why do we always want what we don't have? I'm in a Beth Moore Bible Study right now, and I could go on and on about many wise things she says. One thing she said that struck me this morning, is that we often miss the blessing that the Lord gives us because many times we're wishing for the blessing that someone else has. What blessing in your life do you overlook?

Dream

I was awakened early this morning to a desperate, "MOM!". I ran over to Caden's room.

He whimpered, "Mom, I wish I was a mermaid." (I'd like to make a note here, that Caden doesn't realize this is a gender specific term.)

When he got out of bed later, he was full of tales of Grandma and Alyssa being dolphins, and some other nonsensical ideas that I can't even articulate. Aren't dreams fun?

Caden-the tool man-Davis

While, she was here, Grandma also gave Caden his birthday present! A tool belt! He immediately started fixing things throughout the house! Caden told Shann that when he got home from work, everything would be fixed. Wouldn't this be nice?

Mr Freezy

Grandma and Caden and Alyssa were able to get a little snowman out of the melting snow that was left! Here he is, peaking in our kitchen window!

My first dollhouse!

I wish I had a video of all the giggling and dancing that occured while I was trying to find my camera. She was so excited!
My parents visited last weekend, and this was their gift to her. It was a hit!
Setting it up....

time for lunch...
