Goodbye to the House on the Hill

Last week, Shann and I drove to Pennsylvania to officially move out; pack up everything left in the house, which was all of our furniture, and a lot of other stuff. Basically, though, we just needed to be present when the movers came. It went really well. We were quite impressed with the moving company, and the house was packed and loaded in two days. The kids stayed in North Carolina, which made the week a bit easier. We got to see friends, and wrap everything up fairly painlessly.

Look! They even put mattresses in boxes!

I didn't feel terribly emotional, but it was weird to see everything heading out of the house, and rooms emptying out. I thought of all the life that happened there. We had lots of good times with friends and visits from family. The biggest events being the birth of our babies, and the first years of their lives. I found our growth chart on one of the doorframes leading to the basement, and couldn't leave it - so I copied it onto a piece of wood, that I'll implant into a doorframe in the new house, and the marks can continue.
Shann and I prayed over the house before we left it for the last time, thanking the Lord for blessing us there, and asking that he bless the new owner as well.

The last picture makes me cry! I loved all the time I got to spend with you in that house. Can't wait to be with you in your new one!

Yes, I had to shed a few tears over you sitting in the empty family room looking up! The birth of babies and so much life that is so precious is still in your spirit and memories! We loved coming there. But the good part is that it would have been nothing without all of you there and so... we are looking forward to coming again!!! Mom
