Tuesday Lunch in the Hutong

The Hutong area consists of homes configured around a courtyard with a well. This guy, Dallas, was our Hutong guide. He took us to a local home for lunch. Teresa, below, was our guide the whole time we were in Beijing. the first home we went to by mistake. Something was awry with our reservations....so here we are, waiting for Dallas to figure out where we're going next. Teresa was quite annoyed and stressed out!
Courtyard...now houses have been built in the courtyards, and the wells are covered over, so the old configuration isn't visible. Each one used to house a single family, now there are many in each.
We wait next to drying underwear.

We're walked back down the street, where Shann and Madelyn use the exercise equipment while we wait.

After about 30 minutes of walking back and forth, this tour guide (below) is sent in to replace Dallas. Eleven (the English name she has chosen), finds a place for us to eat and fill us in on the area. And Shann finally goes to the fork.

Teresa and Eleven.
Eleven gives Madelyn a ride to Prince Gong's Mansion.
